Remember When
By: Cally Alexander
Remember when…
All those soldiers
Fought for our lives,
And ended up losing theirs.
Remember when…
Those acres of land
Were once covered
In the blood
Those brave soldiers shed.
Remember when…
We lay all of those soldiers
Down to rest beneath
The soil they soaked with their blood.
Remember when…
We could sing the beautiful word…
Freedom.
How it rang
Through the ears and
Touched the hearts of many people.
Remember when…
All those proud mothers
Lost their sons,
No one left to carry on
The family name.
Remember when…
All those women
Lost their husbands,
Weeping and crying,
It never stopped.
Remember when…
All those children
Lost their fathers.
Some not even old enough to
Remember when.

A sincere artist is not one who makes a faithful attempt to put on to canvas what is in front of him, but one who tries to create something which is, in itself, a living thing.
